Freshers’ Week 2013

Behind the Scenes, November 5, 2013

The weather is getting worse and worse. Sunny (well… perhaps let’s use the word ‘pleasant’) September is now a thing of the past. Yes, this can only mean one thing – autumn is in its full swing and your coursework deadlines are probably close enough to send you in a state of panic. That being said, why not sit back and look fondly at the Freshers’ Week 2013: a time when we only had to debate on a choice of a post-QMU/GUU takeaway meal, not essay topics? GUST sure misses those times!

We joined the chanting and speeches at the Freshers’ Address.

At the GUU, we interviewed headliners We Were Promised Jetpacks and spoke to lots of lovely Freshers during Takeover which saw the entire building transformed into a club. Jameela Jamil also performed!

At the QMU, we caught up with Scott Mills and That Drummer That DJ who both played amazing sets for packed-out Qudos.

Day two of Freshers’ Week was even more intense than the first one! GUSTies were busy from early morning…

…till late night! The highlight of which was definitely our interview with Felix and Hugo of The Maccabees.

It’s Wednesday of Freshers Week! GUST went along to the SRC’s International Ceilidh…

…the GUSA Party at the GUU…

…and the QMU’s Headphone Disco!

Freshers’ Week was almost over but we still found loads of stuff to film.

This time around we went to Around the World Party to try some amazing foods from different cultures, we caught up with Glasgow Uni Exec and headed to the QMU for their annual Freshers’ Ball.

Unfortunately Freshers’ Week had to come to an end, as all good things tend to.

Alicja and Tom managed to get their faces painted at QM’s UV Party.

edit: According to GoThinkBig, GUST produced the best Freshers’ Week coverage in the whole country! Read the article here.

It was definitely a fun-packed week and we just can’t wait for next year!
