When: Monday, 5pm
Where:
Southpark House Studio (64 Southpark Avenue - Learning and Teaching Centre)

Each Monday GUST meet to film in the university’s very own HD television studio. Each of GUST’s producers use the studio space to film for their programmes and there are opportunities to get involved with directing, camera, sound, lighting, set-design, auto-cue, floor-managing, presenting and photography. Studio is a great opportunity to help get involved in the production of a programme and learn some new skills. There are always people on hand to teach and help you. We also host additional studio tech training sessions once per semester. After our studio session, which usually runs on until 7pm or 8pm, we all go to the pub together for food and drinks.

Meetings - Training and Workshops

When: Wednesday, 5pm
Where:
Williams Room/Room 208 John McIntyre Building

Every Wednesday evening GUST meet for our weekly production meeting. This is where we catch up on the latest news and announcements and catch up with all of our producers. The meetings are an opportunity to find out more about GUST, get involved with additional production opportunities and voice your individual ideas to the team.

After the meetings we host routine training and workshops. In the past we have offered training and workshops at basic and advanced levels on:

  • Camera
  • Sound
  • Editing (Adobe Premiere Pro)
  • Lighting
  • Presenting
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Adobe After Effects
  • Adobe Flash (animation)

Elections

GUST is made up an elected team. There are two elections per year at the end of both semesters. Every active member of GUST can stand for the offered positions in the elections.

Election nominations will open one week prior to the elections at the weekly production meeting. If you are interested in taking on a position, speak to the person in the position at the moment to get a good understanding of the role. Anyone can pitch an idea and start making a programme a reality so you don’t have to have a position in order to make a programme - just speak to us at the production meetings.
