Edward Snowden has been elected with a majority of 3,347 of 6,560 votes in the final round in one of the most hotly contested elections on the Glasgow University campus in recent years. GUST is bringing you the results of Glasgow University’s Rectorial Election 2014.

Edward Snowden has been elected with a majority of 3,347 of 6,560 votes in the final round in one of the most hotly contested elections on the Glasgow University campus in recent years. He was represented by his campaign team, with Lubna Nowak giving a prepared acceptance speech on Snowden’s behalf.

Final Round Results:
1,563 Kelvin Holdsworth
3,347 Edward Snowden
1,412 Graeme Obree

238 votes were spoilt. Alan Bissett was eliminated in the first round of the Single-Transferrable-Vote (STV) system.
